The Cookie That Started It All

In October, three months after my daughter and I were unceremoniously deposited back to our "home" turf, I thought I'd try my hand at making some money on the side. A year before I'd perfected (at least I think so) the sugar cookie and when my uncle's store took delivery of some Halloween cookie cutters I thought "I bet I can make better cookies than anyone in Trinidad!" (read "I really need some fucking money, wonder if people would buy my cookies?"). Being the dedicated sucker for punishment I was born I decided to start boldly! bravely! BIG! I thought I'd make a little Halloween scene, start the set off with the best haunted house I could muster out of my head and a piping bottle with a number one tip attached. I displayed it in the store and when people started raving, I made a series of dead famous people's ghosts, bags of teeeeny little over detailed eyeballs, some grave markers, witch's fingers, bats and cauldrons, all hand cut. I've loved Halloween for as long as I could say "trick or treat, give me some candy or I'll pop a cap in your ass" (not) and I don't think there could have been a better time to kick off this fantastic cookie fun ride I'm on.

This is the haunted house, the cookie that started it all :*)

Not too shabby for a first timer I thought.
